Psychology Today   Leave a comment

The info on the Psychology Today website is quite different from the cites that allow one to check symptoms or research a condition.

It is instead an article written by Psy. D offering simple tips to people to help them avoid cyberchondria. Specifically, she suggests screening rather than diagnosing, considering the sources carefully, and setting a time limit before using the internet for medical research.

She ends with an assertion that relates to our class discussion a couple of weeks ago: “be your own advocate–but not your own doctor”
