Call Her Warrior   1 comment

I have referenced my friend’s 50-something-hour home birth more than once and I thought I would post this link, as it is such a relevant convergence of texts, technology, and (anti?)medicine. This video embodies the most positive possibilities of home birth. Of course, different cases demand different approaches, but this woman would have most likely been given a Cesarean because of the length of her labor if she was in a hospital setting. This is the very end of my friend’s labor…

Preceding this was her pregnancy blog: http://pacingthepanicroom.blogspot.com/search/label/The%20walk%20to%2040%20weeks.

Lots to say about all of this in the context of our class and our work in T&T.

This was lovely. The media has portrayed labor and deliver as a slapstick screamfest, so it was nice to see a real laboring woman working hard but also smiling.
